I went to Cozumel Dive School and took my open water certification as well as my advanced and nitrox certification. It was one of the best experiences of my life between the instructors, dive masters, DMTs and owners. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was family. Jackie and Peter who taught the open water course took the time to explain everything very well whether it was skills, shore dives or boat dives. Jackie also taught my Advanced course as well as my Nitrox. I enjoyed my experience so much that I extended my trip by a couple of days to get some more boat dives in. Uli was a great help with this and Ken got me on a boat last minute on the day I was supposed to leave. Sven guided on the las two days of boat dives and it was a great experience. They all pay attention to the little details that make your diving time awesome. I can’t wait to come back! – via

Over the past few years, this place has become such an integral and monumental part of my life. From my early certifications, to my Divemaster Internship, and eventually to my IDC course, I have been thoroughly impressed through it all. The mission of the school not only teaches you the beauty of the ocean, but they put safety and all of PADI’s guidelines and standards first and foremost. I have been lucky enough to dive with all of the instructors, each who continue to teach me something new. My favorite part of the staff here is they all lead with quality but offer their own unique passion for diving as well. CDS has found a way to work with all students aligning patience, love, and excitement for all of their dive needs. Not everyone is the same or has the same needs, so I love how CDS is able to cater to that while maintaining complete professionalism. Having traveled to many other places for recreational diving, there is no doubt in my mind that Cozumel Dive School goes above and beyond with all their dive operations, classes, and courses. Spending significant time at the school over the past few years, I have seen the hard work and commitment the Owner and his staff continue to implement into all their curriculums, programs, and all around movement of this school. This truth really blew me away this past spring when I recently became a Certified Dive Instructor at the IE. There were many examinees, and then there was us from CDS. There was no comparison. We were beyond prepared, and we owe that to what this school offers and provides. I came here initially to learn how to dive. I have left every time a better diver but also a better human. I am so grateful to have found this school and to continue to learn from Ken, Kaja, and others involved who have become mentors and even more so, family. I had the most amazing experience at Cozumel Dive School! I went for my open water certification with instructor, Jackie Bogenberger, and she was just wonderful! In fact, all of the staff at CDS were incredible. The facilities, lodging and access to resources and dive equipment were also on point. As someone who recently completed his Open Water Diver Certification at Cozumel Dive School, I would highly recommend it for new divers who are open, social, eager to learn, and budget conscious.

Discovering how much of a tourist trap the entire Mayan Rivera is, the Cozumel Dive School is a breath of fresh air. While providers of fun dives and open water courses abound, many are very business like and profit driven like the Beach Clubs and and tour companies that own them. However, right when I entered, I realized the Cozumel Dive School is very different, it is more of a community than a business.

Ekai was my instructor, I would highly recommend him as he was very patient and explained lots of confusing techniques and equipment to me until I nailed them down. Ekai was very flexible in my individualized lesson plan and did not rush me, which I highly appreciated. For the shore dive we went to Tikila Beach and our boat dives were at Yucab and Palancar reef. Ekai was kind enough to take photos for me with his GoPro and later share them with me.

However, the PADI course is long and challenging. I was lucky enough to come at a time when I was able to get a private instructor, which made my learning experience a lot better. This student group before me had several students per instructor, which would have slowed down their progress due the instructor having to individually assess each student for skill checks.

During my shore and boat dives, I observed other diving instructors and am glad I got Ekai. I observed other instructors, especially from other diving schools were not nearly as helpful. As someone who needs a lot of assistance and has lots of questions, Ekai helped me throughout the process.

However, there are some prospective divers who probably wouldn’t be the best fit here. The dive school is all inclusive and even includes a bunk in the hostel. The facilities are clean enough but as I mentioned before, the Dive House is a community, everyone is expected to clean up after themselves and voluntarily contribute to upkeep expenses like water and toilet paper. When I was there, there was a workaway who helps clean common areas, but all residents are expected to be team players and keep all facilities and equipment in good order. Those who expect a catered service like hotel and private boats and transportation would probably be best off sticking to the dive provider at their resort.

Lastly, Cozumel is a very expensive island. While the school has a guidebook, it is a bit outdated and it is highly recommended to ask the staff for their recommendations for food options ASAP. Ekai was kind enough to share his knowledge of a good taco place. Also, Rico and Ginger are the two residents school cats. Their fearlessness and tenacity inspires a whole generation of divers to explore new places. – via

I attended the Cozumel Dive School from May 2022 till October 2022. While there I completed my Rescue; Dive Master, IDC, and MSDT. As soon as I arrived I was welcomed and it felt like being in a family.

My instructors Kaja, Jimmy, Ken and all the instructors are awesome. They are dedicated to diving and every persons success. This is a school that cares about the quality of instructors and a level of customer service that is unmatched in Cozumel.

I left the school totally prepared to carry on the lessons I learned and the confidence to teach on my own.

Ken, Kaja, and Jimmy are the reason I’m a successful instructor. I now live in Florida where I have my own business teaching and guiding dives. Without Cozumel Dive School I don’t know where I would be.

I returned to the school March 7-12, 2024 and come back to visit. I did 4 days of boat dives and had time to visit everyone at the school. The level of instruction given by the staff is amazing. All the customers were extremely happy.

I HIGHLY recommend this school to everyone that is looking to get certified all the way up to going the professional level. – via

I did my Padi open water dive certification with CDS and am going straight on to do the advanced. Peter has been my instructor.
Everyone here is really welcoming and willing to give advice and tips of the trade. I stayed at the school and feel like I joined a nice community.
Peter was very thorough and really chill, it felt like diving with a buddy (literally), one you could trust to deal with a variety of situations. I was definitely out of my comfort zone but having such a positive instructor and group of surrounding staff really helped me press through and feel happy with myself and the experience. – via

Great experience with Salty Endeavors in Cozumel. I came for my open water SSI certification and had a wonderful experience. My instructor Guillermo was friendly, kind and patient, which made the whole process an even better experience.

Weather conditions weren’t ideal but they kept me informed regularly and were very accommodating of my time and needs to make sure I get to dive and get my certification.

5 stars very well deserved. Excellent, fun and professional team, highly knowledgeable. It was my first diving experience ever and it was just wonderful. SJ is a fantastic instructor, I can only recommend diving with and learning from her. All the dive equipment was well maintained and functional. We both stayed at the dive school in a private room. The facilities at the accommodation were great, comfortable and suitably equipped. I would be more than happy to come back again! Highly recommend! – via
