I recently told someone how I saw great white sharks up close! They were impressed and I know my trip with San Diego Shark Diving Expeditions is one I will never forget. An incredible experience: viewing sharks from the safety of a cage; being on the boat deck and seeing sharks rise out of the water; enjoying the companionship of other adventurers. Doc’s extensive knowledge and years of working with different types of sharks makes the trip outstanding. The crew and food was great. If you are considering taking the plunge, this is the company you want to dive with. – via

This company is associated with “Nautilus Liveaboards” (google for reviews and to see what’s going on). They collected thousands of dollars from people for trips they could not complete in 2022. They didn’t offer refunds saying they would credit for future trips years later in 2023 or 2024. Now they are saying the park is closed permanently due to this company permanently injuring sharks. Still no refunds will be offered. Nautilus Liveaboards is now pivoting to business under this name to avoid this becoming public. There are already lawsuits etc pending. Do your research! I’ll be letting the others know to leave their reviews here as well. Thank you. – via

Doc and his crew are true experts. 1st Class!!! Professional, most knowledgeable, friendly, safe. My sons and I had an experience of a lifetime. Cage dive out of San Diego – Makos, Blues, Molas …annnnd to top it off a Humpback appeared a short distance from our cage -hung there and then faded disappeared back into the deep!!
We were only ones who saw it
Learned much and have
Memories forever!

I have enjoyed a number of trips with SDSDE over the years, both offshore with Blues & Makos, and at Guadalupe Is. With Great Whites. Was truly amazed at watching these top predators in open water. Doc is the man, he has the knowledge, & experience to give everyone a great experience that they will remember the rest of their life’s. – via

Simply put, it was one of the best experiences of my life. I never thought it would be that impactful, but the Captain’s and entire Crew’s passion and respect for these magnificent creatures made the experience even that much more special. It really was like seeing real life dinosaurs! If you’ve ever thought about it, do it! You won’t regret it, and your fear or fascination will turn into respect and admiration for life and the things we rarely get to see or think about! – via

Fantastic adventure, fair price, exceedingly easy to work with, flexible and accommodating, and just good folks to deal with. They did not promise more than they could deliver, and delivered on everything they promised. The best recommendation I can give is that we are planning on going again next year. – via

I went on shark dives in SanDiego, Guadalupe Island and Galapagos with Sdshark Diving and ever trip was fantastic. Ever trip was organized, safe and underwater experiences that I will always cherish. Doc Ames is an amazing person to be associated with above the water and below

I enjoyed their professional shark dive services. I have been diving with San Diego Shark Diving Expeditions several times. I dove for open ocean sharks such as Blues and Maco Sharks. I also took the Isla de Guadalupe great white shark dives and I loved it. I spent the extended great white shark trip diving with the sharks in the mornings and later in the afternoon went fishing for some yellow tail tuna. I could not have had better trips. Much cheaper than going to south africa to do the same dives. – via
